The Lyle/Pacelli girls basketball team avenged an early season loss to Glenville/Emmons (7-3 overall, 5-2 SEC) when it beat the Wolverines 63-45 in Glenville Monday.
L/P freshman Ann Rysavy paced her team with 20 points and nine steals.
“Ann was big for us tonight as she used her defense to make her offense,” L/P head coach Brad Walter said. “She got to the rim on a few fast breaks.”
L/P (6-4 overall, 6-2 SEC) led 25-21 at the half as it battled some foul trouble, but it boosted its lead in the second half.
“We had to rely on our bench and Lauren Reiker and Ashley Hinz gave us some quality minutes,” Walter said.
The Athletics were pleased to beat the Wolverines after dropping the season opener to them earlier this season.
“The first time we played them, we felt we gave one away,” Walter said. “It was big for the program to win this one on the road.”
L/P scoring: Ann Rysavy, 20; Nyabang Diang, 16; Madison Truckenmiller, 10; Maggie Lewison, 9; Courtney Walter, 4; Lauren Reiker, 2; free throws: 43 percent (9-for-21)
