An Austin woman is in custody after allegedly spraining a man’s thumb during an altercation early Sunday morning.
Lisa Marie Espe, 32, was arrested for fifth-degree assault, tampering with a motor vehicle and theft around 8 a.m. Sunday.
A verbal altercation between the two apparently escalated until Espe grabbed the man’s thumb and bent it back, causing a severe sprain. The man told police she also slapped him across the face; officers observed red marks on his face and ear area.
Espe could also be charged with theft because the man’s cell phone was missing after the altercation.
The case is being forwarded to the city attorney to finalize charges.
