The Hayfield girls basketball team hung on to beat Winona Cotter (9-3 overall) 50-45 in Winona Friday.

The Vikings (9-4 overall) used a 13-1 run over eight minutes to open the second half to take a one point lead and it was back and forth from that point.

Hayfield led by seven with two minutes left, but a couple of turnovers let Cotter creep back before Alyssa Selk hit some free throws to ice it.

“It was a good scrappy, defensive game and I’m happy with a nice win over a quality team,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said.
