ST. PAUL — A Minnesota man likely will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his wife and two of their children in their Vadnais Heights apartment last October.
Forty-three-year-old Justus Kebabe was sentenced Friday to 76-and-a-half years in prison. Kebabe would be 94 years old before he’s eligible for release.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Kebabe showed no emotion as the judge gave him consecutive sentences, as the prosecution wanted.
Kebabe admitted hitting his 32-year-old wife, Bilha Omare, with a golf club, then strangling her. The next morning he smothered his 9-year-old daughter, Ivyn Ogendi, and held his 12-year-old son, Kinley Ogendi, underwater in the bathtub.
Kebabe later took the couple’s 4-year-old daughter and was stopped by the State Patrol when he ran out of gas near Elko.
