The Hayfield girls basketball team couldn’t overcome a slow start in a 65-53 loss to New Richland/H/E/G in Hayfield Saturday.

The Vikings (7-4 overall) trailed 34-17 at the break and they got as close as seven down the stretch.

“It was an ugly game from the start for us. We struggled with turnovers against their press,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said.

Freshman guard Carlie Wagner led the Panthers (9-2 overall) with 25 points.
