The positions may have changed, but the general lineup of officers on the Austin School Board remains the same.
Aaron Keenan was unanimously elected the district’s new board chairman Thursday afternoon, replacing Dick Lees. Lees was elected vice chair later in the meeting. Diane Wangsness remained board clerk and Jeff Kreitzer, the former vice chair, was elected treasurer, Keenan’s old post.
“I just thought it would be good for a change,” Lees said of his decision to not pursue the chair position this year. “We all did. And the work remains the same for each part.”
Although it won’t appear to be much, change and reorganization is coming. Board members have restructured the committees they serve on and will be shuffling slightly between those committees. In addition, Keenan asked board members to prioritize what they want to accomplish this year and list the goals they have for the district.
“I want to make sure the board’s progressing and moving forward like the district,” Keenan said.
