Lyle/Pacelli seventh grader Cortney Walter had a career-night as she led the Athletics girls basketball team to a 62-49 win over Houston (2-10 overall, 2-10 SEC) in Pacelli Gym Friday.
Walter poured in 30 points while hitting seven threes, just four days after she was held scoreless in a loss to Grand Meadow.
“Once she got warmed up, she was money,” L/P head coach Brad Walter said. “Courtney’s been spending a lot of time shooting in the gym and I think her legs may have been a little tired on Monday.”
L/P (11-5 overall, 11-3 SEC) picked up the win without their senior play-maker Nyabang Diang, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding. Diang was serving the first of a two-game suspension.
L/P will host Schaeffer Academy Tuesday.
“We need some girls to step up for us while she’s out,” Walter said.
L/P scoring: Walter, 30; Ann Rysavy, 15; Maggie Lewison, 6; Madison Truckenmiller, 5; Lauren Reiker, 5
