ALMORA, Minn.  — A small town in western Minnesota has taken another hit following last summer’s deadly tornado.

A 112-year-old building in the Otter Tail County community of Almora was destroyed by fire this week. John and Kathy Olesen lived in the building for the last eight years. They saved their four dogs and two cats, but lost all their possessions. Local residents empathized. Reese Aldrich tells KSAX he lost his home in last June’s storm and can relate to losing possessions.

The building housed the Almora State Bank from 1898 to the early 1940s. Then it became Redeemer Lutheran Church through the early 1990s.

Aldrich says the burned building was among the last historically significant markers in the community of about 2,000.
