An Austin teen who allegedly threatened another person with a gun before stealing his marijuana pleaded guilty to felony robbery Thursday in Mower County Court.
Two charges of aggravated robbery, one charge of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, one charge of theft and one charge of terroristic threats were dismissed when the 16-year-old entered into a plea agreement.
According to a court complaint, the teen went with two other people to buy a half-ounce of marijuana. During the transaction, a fight broke out because the teen and his friend believed they might be getting ripped off.
According to the teen’s testimony in the court complaint, his friend began to beat up the marijuana dealer and then pulled out a gun and began threatening people. He said he ended up throwing the gun near the train tracks.
However, he later changed his story and said his friend dropped the gun, so he picked it up and pointed it at one of the people present. He told police he then struck the dealer in the head with the gun and fled with the marijuana.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in Mower County Court on May 13.
