Google has spoken.

Google blogged Wednesday that it agreed to bring Google Fiber ultra high-speed Internet to Kansas City.  Austin had just broke the top five and ranked fourth in community support on www.fiberforall.org, right behind Duluth at third.

But it appears the unofficial rankings had little to no impact on Google’s final decision. Kansas City wasn’t in the site’s top 15 cities in community support, which was calculated using social media activity.

It’s unclear whether Google will pick another city for its high-speed Internet experiment.
