CRWD planning final look at rules

The Cedar River Watershed District will discuss some recently made tweaks to its draft rules in what could be one of the last workshops before finalizing the rules. The board will meet 9 a.m. Thursday, March 10 at the Hormel Historic Home.

According to Matt Taylor, watershed technician, board members will discuss some alterations to two sections of the rules that have some effect on the city. Those sections include guidelines for city snow removal, floodplain loss and drainage projects.

CRWD staff hope everything goes smoothly. The staff has waited two extra months to send its rules for state review after city and county workers urged CRWD to delay in January for more review.

“I think the board’s really for pushing them forward,” Taylor said. “It’s time to get things moving. Everyone had their chance to voice their opinion a long time ago.”

CRWD plans to send the rules for state review March 16 at its monthly board meeting at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.
