Dorothy A. “Dodie” Davidson, 67, of Austin, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Austin Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born on Nov. 22, 1943, in Austin to Arnold and Ione (Osland) Lightly. She graduated from Austin High School in 1961 and attended Cedarville College in Ohio. While at Cedarville, Dorothy met Donald Davidson. Dorothy and Donald were married on Sept. 4, 1965, at Grace Baptist Church in Austin and had two children, Dennis and Debra.
Donald was deployed to Vietnam with the US Air Force two months after their marriage. After college and during Donald’s deployment, Dorothy worked in registration at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Upon returning from Vietnam, they were stationed in Tacoma, Wash. After his discharge, the couple moved to Milwaukee, where they resided for five years. In the spring of 1973, they returned to her family farm in Oakland Township where they continued the farm operation.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, driving her John Deere tractor, playing with her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Donald Davidson of Austin; children, Dennis (Gwen) Davidson of Byron, Debbie (Cecil) Berlie of Eau Claire, Wis.; grandchildren, Andrew Wendt, Elizabeth Davidson, Kathryn Davidson, Nathan Berlie and Aaron Berlie; mother, Ione Lightly of Austin; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Douglas (Jane) Lightly of Peoria, Ill; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at Faith Evangelical Free Church on Saturday, April 2, with the Reverend Hilmore Williams and Pastor R. Allan Flint officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and at the church for a half hour before the service on Saturday.
Casket bearers will be Jim Nielsen, Earl Nielsen, Andrew Wendt, Jim Osland, Bob Harrington and Jon Davidson. Honorary casket bearer is Carlyle Mathson (in memoriam).
