Linda Scherff, 62, Pharr, Texas

A service celebrating Linda Ann Scherff’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea.

The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Visitation will take place an hour before the service at the church. Immediately following the service a time for fellowship will be held at the Eagles Club, Albert Lea.

Linda died of a heart attack on Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Pharr, Texas. She was 62 years old.

Linda was born Feb. 22, 1949, in Pipestone, daughter of Elmer and Annie (Andersen) Boll. She was united in marriage to Duane Lynn Scherff Sr. on April 23, 1966, in Luverne. Linda and Duane moved to Albert Lea in 1967 and recently made the decision to relocate in Pharr, Texas. Linda worked for social services for more than 20 years after spending time with Naeve Hospital, Wilson & Co. and St. Paul Clothier’s. After retiring, she continued to work at Culligan.

She was a very active member of the Eagles Auxiliary and currently held the state office of secretary. She participated in local, state and national Eagles activities, which included ritual work and charity events. She received many awards acknowledging her involvement in the Eagles. She enjoyed being with all of her Eagles brothers and sisters throughout the state and nation. Linda loved being outside golfing, camping and taking care of her many flowers and gardens. She was very proud of her grandchildren and an avid reader.

Linda is survived by her husband, Duane Scherff Sr., of Albert Lea; her mother, Annie (Andersen) Boll of Luverne; two brothers: Larry (Carlene) Boll of Luverne and Fred (Natalie) Boll of Luverne; two sisters: Cindy (Bob) Collins of Sioux City, Iowa, and Rose Baustian of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-laws: Marvin (Bonnie) Scherff of Luverne and Merlin Winselman of Adrian; two children: son, Duane Scherff Jr. (Christa) of Hayward and daughter, Jessica (David) Jirele of Eden Prairie; six grandchildren: Alex Jirele, Cody Scherff, Andrea Jirele, Anthony Jirele, Dylan Scherff and Abrielle Jirele.

Linda was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; father: Elmer Boll; mother and father-in-law: Melvin (Margaret) Scherff; sister-in-law, Roseann Winselman; son, Darrin Scherff; grandchildren: Theron Scherff and Anne Jirele.
