City Council members voted Monday night to continue the issue of bringing a digital billboard to town until the May 2 meeting.

No testimony was heard regarding the billboard, but a vote is expected at the next City Council meeting.

The digital billboard would replace two existing billboards at the intersection of First Ave. SW and 12th St. SW.

The Austin Planning Commission recommended denial of the sign appeal request “due to the proximity of the public road intersection,” according to a memo sent from the Planning Commission to City Council members.

The digital billboard would be available both for advertising and for local law enforcement officials to post Amber alerts or weather and public safety alerts in the event of an emergency.
