John Joseph Dieser, 96, of Austin, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Sacred Heart Care Center where he was a resident.

John was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Topeka, Kan., to John F. and Barbara (Kippes) Dieser. He was united in marriage to Mary Agnes Reier. She preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1995. John was a retired employee of Hormel Foods, having worked there 48.5 years. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Eagles.

Survivors include six sons, John Dieser of Pine Grove, Calif., Paul Dieser of Edina, Richard Dieser of Umeau, Sweden, Robert Dieser of Apache Junction, Ariz., William Dieser of Hillsboro, Mo., James Dieser of Meadow Vista, Calif; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Adam Dieser, Joseph Dieser, Peter Dieser; two sisters, Elizabeth Kern, Madelyn Filer.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by, Henry Dieser, Katherine Reier, George Dieser, Ann Simon, Barbara Dieser, Mary Radloff, Albert Dieser.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 5:30 p.m. Eagles ritual and a 6 p.m. wake service on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The casket bearers will be James Dieser, William Dieser, Richard Dieser, Paul Dieser, John Dieser, Daniel Dieser.

Memorials are preferred to Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
