The Blooming Prairie baseball team couldn’t dig its way out of an early hole in a 4-2 loss to United South Central in BP Tuesday.
The Rebels (7-5 overall) opened up with three runs in the top of the first but BP pitcher Luc Zellmer held them to just one run over the next six innings.
“Luc really settled down and pitched a great game after the first inning,” BP head coach Chris Staloch said.
BP (2-9 overall) had just three hits and two of them came from eighth grader John Rumpza, who doubled in two runs with a shot to center field in the fourth to make it 4-2.
BP pitching: Luc Zellmer (L), 7 IP, 5 H, 6 BB, 4 ER, 9 K
BP hitting: Ryan McCabe, 1-for-3; John Rumpza, 2-for-3, double, RBI
