A Brownsdale man is in custody in Mower County after allegedly assaulting a 27-year-old Owatonna man early Saturday morning.

Sheriff Terese Amazi said the assault happened at Vista Village in Brownsdale. The two men were apparently arguing about a woman when John Johnson, 31, began punching the man in the face.

The victim told police he didn’t remember much of the assault because he was slipping in and out of consciousness. He was transported to Austin Medical Center by ambulance.

Charges are pending against Johnson, but Amazi said he will likely be charged with felony assault.
