Packer tennis team closes out Albert Lea

The Austin boys tennis team closed out a very busy week with their last regular season match of the year and they finished in style as they topped Albert Lea 6-1 at Paulson Courts Thursday.
All six of Austin’s wins were in two sets and the Packers top singles player Josh Detwiler cruised by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
“It was getting kind of tiring, but we managed to pull off a big win,” Detwiler said. “I started off a little slow and then I started to bring up the pace and put him away.”
The Packers (5-7 overall, 3-7 Big Nine) played four matches in the last four days and the Big Nine tennis meet is scheduled for Saturday in Rochester. While fatigue is a factor, Detwiler isn’t letting it bring him down.
“I just love the game and I love coming out and hitting,” he said. “That’s enough motivation (for me) right there.”
