Thoughts after the death of bin Laden

“I’m all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of hands of fools. Let’s start with typewriters.” — Solomon Short
When I first heard the news of Osama bin Laden being killed I confused it with Obama as the news came across the radio. The closeness in names is weird in its own way.
When I realized what had really happened and I welcomed Obama’s directive. But thinking back I was not receptive to George W’s actions in Iraq and Iran. And now I wonder which direction the bin Laden followers will go. I guess only time will tell.
Last Saturday after a wake for Uncle Bill at the Methodist Church, our extended family’s joined together at George’s Pizza when it opened at 4 p.m. where the nieces and nephews, along with their kids gathered and “talked story.” It was one of the few sunny days that Uncle Bill would have welcomed.
Uncle Bill made it a point to come back to Austin every summer for the get together at the Bohemian Hall. There were many times Uncle Bill came to cousin Ed’s home and they would go somewhere to eat that was special.
Uncle Bill was married to Bessie Vilt before they moved to California. I think Uncle Bill was 96.
Jana, my niece, came to Austin along with her boys, Henry and Jack, who also attended. Jana and I later drove to Dinky Town to pick up Skyler who came down for a few days before he headed to London for a stay with some other students. The London we used to go to was in Freeborn County.
Eventually I was able to fly to London with Jana when she resided there. That was when the woman sitting beside me drank too much and “spit up” on her self and partially on me.
Mello has been busy barking this week driven by the work the carpenters are doing. She doesn’t bite but she sure likes to bark. There have been four workers at one time and Mello has made it a point to bark at each one.
