The Hayfield baseball team beat Kenyon/Wanamingo (4-4 overall) 7-3 in Hayfield Monday.

The Vikings (6-4 overall) rattled off five hits in a four-run fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead and they never trailed again.

Tyler Krekling picked up the win on the mound for Hayfield, and he also had a single, a double, and a triple at the plate with two RBIs.

Hayfield’s defense was also key.

“It was absolutely freezing and we didn’t have any errors,” Hayfield head coach Craig Selk said. “That helped because Tyler (Krekling) didn’t have to stay out in the cold too long and he was in complete control.”
