The Austin Post 91 Legion baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Rochester A’s by scores of 13-3 and 13-7 at Dick Seltz Field Wednesday.
Austin (4-10 overall) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the nightcap when Joey Swatfager and Mike Tindal each blasted two-run homers in the bottom of the first inning, but Post 91 couldn’t hang on to that lead as the A’s, who are made up of players from Century High School, chipped away.
Austin led 7-5, but Century scored the last eight runs of the game.
“Our pitching wasn’t real good and our defense was terrible,” Post 91 head coach Bob Stratton said. “We need to play better in all facets of the game.”
Jordan Lysne took the loss in the first game as he lasted just one and one-thirds of an inning and Jacob Thompson took the loss in the second game as he lasted five and one-thirds of an inning.
Over the weekend, Austin beat St. Cloud and Willmar while losing to Rover Falls and New Ulm at the Mankato Invite.
Swatfager had seven hits, a homerun and eight RBIs in four games, Quinn Yocom reached base 11 times and Thompson had five hits.
