Bernice Mae “Bonnie” Strouf, 96, of Austin, died at St. Marks Lutheran Home Wednesday June 22, 2011.

She was born June 7, 1915, to Arthur and Alta (Danley) Day in Brownsdale, Minn., where she grew up and attended school. She then worked in the Kinsman Greenhouse in Austin. She married Ladislav J. Strouf on Jan. 17, 1946, in Osage, Iowa. They made their home on a farm northwest of Austin. Bonnie loved raising flowers and gardening. She raised houseplants of all varieties in her basement. A great cook, she also liked country western music. Bonnie and Ladislav retired from farming in 1971 and moved into Austin. In her senior years, she became an avid stamp collector. Ladislav died July 21, 2008.

Survivors include her son, James (Mary) Strouf of Austin; four grandchildren; Kristen (Fred) Saurborn of Westminster, Md., Vanessa Strouf of Austin, Adrian Strouf of Austin, Damon (Callie) Strouf of McFarland, Wis.; nine grandchildren; sister, Betty Voigt of Austin; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ladislav; four brothers; four sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Grandview Cemetery in Austin with Chaplain Pamela Solberg officiating. There will be no visitation or reviewal.
