Donald H. Pike, 83 of Austin, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the Austin Medical Center.

Donald Harold Pike was born April 27, 1928, at Park Rapids, Minn., the son of Harold and Lillian (Baker) Pike. He graduated from Austin High School and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Don was married to Norma Schulze on Dec. 4, 1954, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. He worked as a welder in the mechanical division at Hormel Foods until his retirement in 1985.

Don was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Fidelity Lodge 39 AF & AM, Osman Shrine Temple, the Eagles, Elks and American Legion. He had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, camping, bowling and playing cards and was a motorcycle and car enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother and sister, Ethel.

Don is survived by his wife, Norma Pike of Austin; son, Ed Pike of Austin; sisters and brothers, Donna (Andy) Karlsgodt of Alexandria, Minn., Delma Wade of Chattanooga, Tenn., Raymond Pike of Isle, Minn., Violet (Bion) Henderson of Goleta, Calif., Lois (Harold) Davis of Lemon Grove, Calif., Edith (Don) Zabel of Wells, Minn., Joanne Maxfield of Austin, Clayton (Carol) Pike of Billings, Mont., Charleen (Richard) Reed of Austin, Glen (Marlene) Pike of Billings, Mont., Dean (Janice) Pike of Adams; sister-in-law, Ione Kalstad of Cottage Grove, Minn.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery with Austin Post 91 American Legion in charge of military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday, with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. conducted by Fidelity Lodge 39 AF&AM. There will be visitation at the church on Friday for one hour before the service.
