George W. Byron, age 87, of New Richland, died on Friday, June 3, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in New Richland with Fr. Swamy Pothireddy, celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Richland.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca, and will continue on Tuesday morning for one hour prior to services at church.

He is survived by his children: Jane (Joe) Scheidnes, of Roseville; Mary Pat (Ed) Zabinski, of Grand Rapids; Dennis (Wendy) Byron, of Des Moines, Iowa; George P. Byron (Robert Menchini), of Sausalito, Calif.; Bruce W. Byron, of Golden Valley; Raymond Byron, of New York; and Colleen Byron (Gary Rodman), of Ripon, Wis.; by 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; by his siblings, Mary Marple, of New Hope; James (Rita) Byron; Paul (Mayone) Byron; Helen Curran, all of Waseca; and Sr. Colleen Byron, OSF of Rochester; by his sister-in-law Dolores Flintrop of Waseca; by many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane, on April 29, 2007; by his parents, William and Mary Elmira (Conway) Byron and his brother William (Mary Ann) Byron.
