Gladys Roy

Gladys Leona Roy, 95 of Adams, died Thursday June 2, 2011, at the Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato where she has resided since March of 2010.

Gladys was born Dec. 9, 1915, at Elkton the daughter of Gustav L. and Lena (Anderson) Hanson. She graduated as salutatorian from Elkton High School and was married to Robert I. Roy on July 9, 1939, at the First Presbyterian Church in LeRoy.

The Roy’s lived in Austin where Gladys was a homemaker and served as a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother.

In 1961 the Roy’s moved Adams where she was a member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church and very active in circle and WELCA and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Gladys was an avid Twins fan and loved to dance. She also learned to play the organ by ear and played for many family gatherings.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and Roger Stoufer, Mankato; grandchildren: Bradley Roy, Austin, Scott Roy, Aberdeen, S.D., Shelly Stoufer, Mankato, David Stoufer, Mankato, Chad Stoufer, Mankato; sister-in-law:, Millie Hanson, Pine Grove, Mich., nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son Roger six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams. Interment will be at the Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church.

The family prefers memorials to Little Cedar Lutheran Church or the American Red Cross. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
