A Memorial Mass for Judith E. Hansen will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester, Minn. Mass will be officiated by Rev. Timothy Reker. At a later date, burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.

Judith, 65, of Rochester died June 18, 2011, at her sister’s home in Austin, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born Judith Elaine Hansen Jan. 18, 1946, in Austin, Minn., to Virtus and Colette (Heimer) Hansen, she was raised in Austin and graduated from Pacelli High school. Judith was a registered nurse and worked for Mayo Clinic in Rochester for more than 40 years during which time she received a Master’s Degree in Nursing. She worked in the Peri Anesthesia Care Unit as a nursing education specialist. The most rewarding part of Judith’s life was her son, daughter-in-law, and her three grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with family, friends, and associates going on outings, family get- togethers, trips and many other shared activities. Her favorite pastimes included travel, shopping, and gardening.

Judith is survived by a son, Jason Hansen; daughter-in-law, Tracy (Hackbarth) Hansen and their children, Alix, Tyler, and Jonah all of Rochester; sisters, Marilyn (Don Hennager) Berg, of Austin; sister Dorothy (Franciscan Sisters Rochester, MN) Hansen, and Linda (Dennis McNally) Marsh of Austin; brothers, Richard (Veronica) Hansen of Austin, Duane (Darleen) Hansen of Rochester, and Donald Hansen of Rockford, Ill., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel in Rochester. A time to share and remember will take place at 7 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday, June 24.
