Come out to the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center to see the documentary “Troubled Waters: A Mississippi River Story” at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 30.

Produced by the University of Minnesota’s Bell Museum of Natural History, it represents years of research into the ways in which fertilizer runoff is killing the river, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Troubled Waters explores the unintended consequences of commercial agriculture and urban runoff on the health of Lake Pepin, the Mississippi River and the “Dead Zone” in the Gulf of Mexico. This film documentary tells the story of how agricultural and urban runoff has dramatically impacted the health of these valuable natural resources.
