St. John’s Lutheran Church will be hosting its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) June 13-17.
Children will be divided into two age categories: ages 3 to 5 and first through sixth grade students (as of the 2011-2012 school year). Each day begins at 9 a.m. with an opening assembly consisting of songs, introduction of the day’s theme, and prayer. Children will then proceed through three different stations consisting of Bible story time, games and snacks, and crafts. The day ends with a closing assembly involving a drama, singing, and review of the day’s theme.
The overall program is called “Gold Rush: Discovering THE Rock of Ages.” Children will learn about a treasure that can not be lost or stolen or eroded; they will discover Jesus.
A community meal will be offered on Sunday, June 12 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Northwest Park. The event includes food, fellowship, and the kick off VBS. In case of inclement weather, the meal will be offered at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1200 13th Ave. NW.
