Violet L. Buck, 82, of Rochester, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Olmsted Medical Center Hospital.

Violet LaVonne Mahnke was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Dodge Center, Minn., to Louis and Clara Mahnke. She married Sterling Buck on Sept. 7, 1946, in Dodge Center. She worked at Fieldcrest Care Center for 4.5 years in Hayfield. She then worked for the Kahler Corporation in Rochester until she retired in 1990. In 1975, she and her husband moved to Rochester. Violet enjoyed playing Bingo, attending stock car races, embroidering, playing cards and spending time with family. Violet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield and the Eagles Auxiliary.

Violet is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Leon) Eckhart of Rochester and Betty (Rick) Wood of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Ray Mahnke of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Laura Rice of Rochester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sterling in 1996; two sons, Gary and Richard Buck; daughter, Mary Brown; three brothers and three sisters.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st St SE, Hayfield, with the Rev. Paul Hauschild and Reverend Jean Boese officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
