Joyce Marie Hanson, 58, of Blooming Prairie, died at Homestead Hospice in Owatonna Friday afternoon, July 22, 2011.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1952, in Blooming Prairie to Harold and Agnes (Lester) Hanson. Joyce was a lifelong Blooming Prairie resident and graduated from the Blooming Prairie High School in 1970. She was a Day Care provider for many years and for many children. Joyce was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. Joyce also taught Sunday school at First Lutheran Church more than 39 years. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, crafts and reading. Survivors include her sister; Margie Hanson of Blooming Prairie; a brother, Richard (Alice) Svoboda of Owatonna; two nephews, Jim Svoboda and Joe Svoboda; niece, Debbie Parsons; aunt; Teddy Underwood, six great-nieces and nephews, 21 day care kids from 2 years old to 42 years old and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church and one hour before the service on Tuesday. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
