The Minnesota Vikings’ longstanding push for partial public funding of a new stadium did not come up in the brief special session.

Sen. Dan Sparks, DFL-Austin, said there was some behind-the-scenes talk about a Vikings stadium deal, but nothing became official.

“I don’t think they were able to pull the deal together,” Sparks said. “They did not put aside the possibility of maybe a one-day session in the fall (to pass something).

“The timing just wasn’t right at this time.”
