Labor workers and advocates will be gathering outside Democratic Rep. Tim Walz’s Rochester office Tuesday to raise awareness for job outsourcing.
The Southeast Area Labor and Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition will be there to release new data showing that around 12,000 people in Walz’s First Congressional District work in industries in danger of being outsourced or displaced if the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement is enacted.
The trade deal could be voted on in Congress as early as next week, and Walz has not stated his position.
The group will gather in front of Walz s office at 11 a.m. Tuesday to urge the congressman to oppose the Korea-U.S. agreement.
Walz’s office is located at 1130 Seventh St. NW in Rochester.
