It’s time to stuff the bus.
That’s what local charities and organizations are telling people this week. Residents can donate school supplies to “Stuff the Bus” full of donations for the Salvation Army’s Back-To-School Drive.
“Every year, the school lists get bigger,” said Lt. Amy McMahan of the Salvation Army. “It can sometimes be too much for (people) to handle.”
That’s why the Salvation Army, in cooperation with the United Way of Mower County and the Austin Bruins among other groups, is sponsoring the “Stuff the Bus event” to help almost 300 area students get enough supplies for the year.
Residents can donate Wednesday and Thursday at the bus, which will be at Main Street at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday before going to the Riverside Arena parking lot at 1 p.m. for an hour. The bus will come to Mid-Town Auto Clinic at noon Thursday before heading to the Austin High School south parking lot at 1 p.m.
The Salvation Army will accept donations at any time at their office.
