The Holiday Inn in Austin will be hopping with mystery this Saturday.
There will be murder, intrigue and a groovy sound as the Holiday Inn’s first public Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre show, “Staying Alive,” takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27.
There are few public details about the show, which has a ’60s vibe and a bit of a rock ’n‘ roll theme, according to Nikki Kvam, director of catering. The audience will witness a murder and must guess who, out of several eccentric characters, committed the crime.
The show won’t be the only thing on the menu, as audience members will have their choice of stuffed chicken breast or sliced roast beef with gravy, along with mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon, a side salad and the Ultimate Chocolate Fountain with refreshments for dessert.
Gordy Handeland Productions will handle the performance, the first time the Inn has publicly put on a murder mystery dinner theater. Hotel organizers hosted several private showings over the years, which were always a hit.
Tickets are $21.95 and include two drink vouchers, and the meal. Kvam said about 90 reservations are confirmed. People can call 433-9403 to make reservations or can buy tickets at the show.
