John Christian Walledom III, 79, of Manteno, Ill., died Aug. 26, 2011, at his home.

He was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Albert Lea, to John and Ragna Walledom. On Nov. 8, 1974, he married Mary Ann Martello in Park Forest. He was director of Luther Park Bible Camp in Chetek, Wis. and Ewalu Bible Camp in Strawberry Point, Iowa, a member of Manteno Church of the Nazarene, avid rock collector, hiker, nature lover, harmonica player, alligator wrestler and gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; sons and daughters-in-law, John Walledom IV and Kristin of Sulpher, La., Michael McAllister of Port Washington, Wis., Nikko and Michele Martello of Steger, Ill.; daughters and son-in-law, Shelly Lamphear of Burr Ridge, Ill., Rebecca Thein of Manchester, Iowa; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bob Acherwold of Austin; grandchildren, John Walledom V, Stephanie and Al Marino, Michael Lamphear, Leanne Lamphear, Kevin Lamphear, Chloe Thein, Jackson Thein; great-grandchildren, Emma Merino, Santino and Dylan Merino.
