Kenneth L. Tapp, 90, of Austin died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin.

Kenneth was born July 23, 1921, at Alden, Minn., the son of Ernest and Edith (Melugin) Tapp. He attended country school and served in the US Army, Pacific Theater during WWII. Kenneth was married to Jeanette Johnson on Nov. 6, 1942, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Kenneth was a retired employee of the Hormel Foods Corporation. He was a charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and involved with the UCT baseball league. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles Club.

Kenneth enjoyed a number of hobbies including fishing and hunting as well as camping and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Maynard, Lester, Cecil, Lloyd, Clifford and Vernon and sisters Opal and Lucille.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Austin; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Gene Borden of Fernley, Nev., Karen and Dwayne Anderson, Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Julie Tapp, Austin; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Irene Tapp, Grand Meadow, Minn., Mildred Tapp, Lake City, Minn.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with The Rev. Dan Kahl officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery with military rites conducted by Olaf B. Damm Post 1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Austin Post 91 American Legion. Friends may call at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday.
