A 17-year-old is at Many Rivers Juvenile Detention center after he was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening his mother with a 9-inch blade.
Police responded to a home at the 1100 block of W. Oakland Avenue at around 11:50 a.m. Thursday, where they were told the young male had fled.
The boy’s mother had recently come back to town and the two were arguing when the boy grabbed a knife, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger. The boy raised the knife towards his mother and supposedly yelled, “Get back, I will stab you.”
Police found and took the boy to Mower County Jail, where he was later transported to Many Rivers. Charges are pending, but Krueger said the boy could face second degree assault and terroristic threat counts.
The case was forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s office and the boy’s probation officer.
