Austin is looking for talent, and soon.
The Austin’s Got Talent series, under the direction of the Paramount Theatre and event coordinator Denny Charnecki, aims to get 30 people to sign up before Oct. 22 to showcase their talents. And for the winners, there are quite a few perks, according to Charnecki.
Among cash prizes, giveaways from Apold Music, overnight stays and a Fender guitar for some of the winners, one lucky contestant will get his or her music recorded on CD by Tom Bridges’ Recording Studio.
“That can be huge expense, and that’s going to be totally paid for.”
Among those incentives, Charnecki also said the top two contestants will get to perform with some of the stars of the Grand Ol’ Opry for a special New Year’s Eve show.
Charnecki encourages people of all ages to try out, as the series has drawn contestants from as young as 11 to as old as 80. Furthermore, he expects big things for some contestants in the future, as previous performers have gone on to do some successful performances.
“If we have someone that’s really talented, this could really happen for them,” Charnecki said.
Those who have auditioned before won’t need to audition; however, newcomers can contact the Paramount Theatre at 434-0934 or DC Music at 437-6969.
