The Hayfield football team stuck with Goodhue (3-0 overall, 3-0 HVL) for a half, but it couldn’t keep up in a 44-14 loss on the road Friday.

The Vikings (0-3 overall) fell behind 21-0, but quarterback Cole Kruger hit Caleb Gilbertson for a score and found Dillon Wagner for a touchdown on a hook-and-ladder.

Hayfield was driving to open the second half, but their drive stalled and Goodue (3-0 overall, 3-0 HVL), which is ranked No. 2 in Class ‘A’, responded with a score to make it 28-12.

“We were moving the ball, but an iffy non-call on pass interference stalled us and they took over,” Hayfield head coach Grant Klennert said. “They just ran the ball (in the second half). They’re good.”
