Juanita “Nita” Huffman, 83, of Austin, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Juanita Lillian Haney was born July 12, 1928, to Aaron S. and Lutina C. (Noble) Haney in Freeborn County. She attended Motley High School and on Feb. 22, 1947 married Edwin “Pete” Kominek in Staples, Minn. Pete passed away on Sept. 25, 1996. On Aug. 31, 1999, she married Roy Huffman in Austin. Roy passed away Oct. 9, 2008. Nita worked at Kinsman and Johnson Floral for 28 years and at Regner’s Cleaners for 13 years. She enjoyed having company and liked playing cards. She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and meeting new friends there. Nita also liked going to the casinos.
Survivors include her son, James Kominek, Austin; six grandchildren, Deanna Belden, St. Peter, Dean (Barb) Kominek Jr., Brownsdale, Dawn (Todd) Retterath, Austin, Daitra (Jon) Wersal, St. Peter, Chad (Laurie) Kominek, Austin, Amy (Pat) Meyer, San Jose, Calif.; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin “Pete” Kominek; second husband, Roy Huffman; son, Dean Kominek, Sr.; three daughters, Marsha Miller, Kathy Kominek, Kimberly McAlister; granddaughter, Lisa Anderson; two brothers, John Wesley Haney, Clayton Stanley Haney, both in infancy; sister, Geraldine Stelck.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Jeffrey Forbes officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.
