Support campaign

In an era when tight budgets are cutting into the services that government provides to the neediest Minnesotans, it is reassuring to have an organization like the United Way of Mower County working to reverse some of those losses. Mower County residents have given generously to the United Way year after year; we hope that trend continues.
Last year’s United Way campaign raised more than $1 million for charitable organizations, a hefty increase over the previous year. It was money well given. The United Way represents an opportunity for area residents to make a single donation that flows out to many organizations around the community. Beyond raising funds the United Way ensures that those dollars are distributed back out only to organizations that can demonstrate that they are doing valuable charitable work in the community. It’s a smart and safe way to give.
Most county residents who are employed will get an opportunity to give through payroll deductions at their workplace. Retirees and others can also expected to be contacted.
This year, the United Way aims to raise $1.1 million, which would be another year of growth. As other support for helping organizations fades, it’s well worthwhile giving to keep the United Way and the agencies it supports strong.
