Wayne Wesley Rouhoff, 63, of Austin, Minn., died at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011.

Wayne was born on June 15, 1948, in Austin to Wesley and Ella (Birdsell) Rouhoff. He graduated from Austin High School and Austin Vocational School. He served in the US Navy from October 1966 to June 1972, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. Wayne married Valorie Willert on Sept. 17, 1969, in Sioux Falls, S.D. On Jan. 1, 2011, Wayne retired from Austin Utilities where he was a heavy equipment operator and coal handler.

Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan. You could always find him in the basement sitting in his favorite chair, rooting for the Twins and the Vikings. He also enjoyed woodcarving, and he won a few blue ribbons at the fair for his bird carvings. Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post 91 and the Eagles Club of Austin. He will be greatly missed by his family

He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Rouhoff and his in-laws, Al and Betty Willert.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Valorie Rouhoff, Austin; daughters, Shellie (Thomas) Wuertz, Austin, and Jennifer Wigant, Austin; six grandchildren, Megan, Madison and Maya Wuertz, Jacob Wigant and Jack and Jori Johnson; mother, Ella Rouhoff, Austin; brother, Keith Rouhoff, Austin; sister, Darlene (Wayne) Swanson, Park Rapids, Minn.; nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary. Friends are welcome to call or visit at the family home.
