Janet Buchanan Bailey died on Sept. 15, 2011, in the hospital in Lemoore, Calif., after a short illness. She was the daughter of Frank and Verian Buchanan and was born in Gordonsville. Janet attended school at Freeborn and moved to California and graduated with a degree in nursing.

Janet married Dr. Ronald Bailey DDS. Ronald preceded her in death several years ago. The couple had three children: Gerald, Kathryn and Dawn.

Janet was one of seven children to Frank and Verian Buchanan, of Freeborn. Other children were: Dr. Fremont Buchanan, of Fenton, Mich., Dr. Winona Brannan, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Leland Buchanan, of Freeborn, Dr. Gerald Buchanan, of Fenton, Mich., Tracy Christensen, of Hidden Creek, Good Samaritan Society, Albert Lea, and George Lyndan Buchanan in a train accident at age 22.

Surviving is sister Tracy Christensen.
