The memorial service for Lucille H. Studer will be held at Bayview Funeral Home, Saturday, Oct. 8, at 2:30 p.m., with lunch following. The Rev. Wendy J. Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at Bayview Funeral Home.

Lucille H. Studer, 97, passed away in her sleep in the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at her home in Albert Lea. She was surrounded by all four of her children who had been doing home hospice, caring for her around the clock during the last week of her long and happy life. In recent years her son William had been her primary care giver and constant companion.

Lucille was born in Odin on March 3, 1914, the daughter of Peter C. and Minnie Hanson. The family moved to Albert Lea in 1927 where Lucille graduated from high school in 1932. She was also a graduate of St Olaf College, class of 1936.

On Sept. 30, 1937, she married Wilbur A. Studer. They were married for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed her family, gardening, reading, writing poetry and traveling after retirement. She was a substitute teacher, worked at KATE Radio writing copy and had her own “What’s On at the Movie” radio show. She worked at National Cooperatives from 1960 until retirement from the advertising department.

Lucille is survived by her four children: Penny Lieb, William A. Studer, of Albert Lea, Irene (Jean) Dassier, of St. Paul, and Mary Ellen (Lowell) Bye, of Chaska; grandchildren: Lisa Bye Scherber (Terry), Peter Bye (Kristine), Fran Dassier Sherman (Ross) and Nadine Dassier (Mark); great-grandchildren: Devin, Aiden and Dylan Dassier, Sarah, Jacob and Marin Scherber and Nora Bye.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur, in 1987; her granddaughter, Michelle Lieb Leverson, in 1990; son-in-law, Dennis Wayne Lieb in 2005; and special friend Larry Offenbecker in June of 2011.
