Donald R. Brown, 84, of Blooming Prairie, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Prairie Manor Care Center, Blooming Prairie, Minn.

Donald Richard Brown was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Austin, Minn., to Justin and Grace (Dawley) Brown Morgan. He attended school in Rose Creek and Austin, served in the Army from 1945-1947, and then graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1948. On Oct. 15, 1952, he married Lorraine Klemmensen at Trinity Church in Bixby, Minn. Don was employed by Associated Grocers and Gateway Foods, working as a truck driver and a warehouse foreman for more than 40 years. He retired in 1994. Don was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. He enjoyed gardening and yard work.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Blooming Prairie; children, Raymond (Dell) Brown of Hollandale, Minn., Rodney Brown (Debra Benson) of Blooming Prairie, Douglas Brown of Albert Lea, Minn., Jeanne (Greg) White of Cambridge, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Wade Brown, Christopher (Melissa) Brown, Stacy Brown, Marcy (Al) Wegleiter, Andrew White, Michaela Brown, Renae (Doug) Horecka; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Marge) Brown of Owatonna, Minn., and Gary (Alice) Morgan of Clearwater, Minn.; sister, Verna (Howard) Busho of Owatonna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Justin and Grace; brother, Merle; daughter-in-law, Marsha Brown; sister-in-law, Betty Brown.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Bixby. Military rites by American Legion Post 52 and VFW Post 878. The family prefers memorials to the recipient of donor’s choice.
