A woman was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin Saturday morning after a car crash and rollover.

Around 8:10 a.m. a Purple Chevrolet Monte Carlo traveling west on West Oakland Avenue collided with the back end of a white Cadillac turning left from 25th Street Southwest onto Oakland.

The Monte Carlo rolled and slid more than 100 feet in the westbound lane near Holiday Ford.

Austin firefighters extracted the driver from the vehicle, and she was taken to MCHS-Austin. She was the only passenger. The extent of the woman’s injuries were unknown Saturday.

Vannessa Dang, 23, was riding in the passenger seat of the white Cadillac. Dang said she didn’t see the Monte Carlo before they turned, though she remembers looking both ways.

“It just happened all so fast,” she said. “It’s the worst car accident I’ve ever been in.”

Dang’s boyfriend, Josh Wieseler, was driving, and Isaiah Wright, 24, was in the backseat.

The three were on their way to go fishing.

Austin Police Officials on scene declined to comment because the crash is still under investigation. The Minnesota State Patrol was being called in to help with the investigation.
