Howard “Howie” Raymond Peterson, age 80, of LeRoy died Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Ostrander Care and Rehab where he had resided since 2004.

Howardwas born March 9, 1931, near Taopi to Henry Emil and Sadie Ovidia (Johnson) Peterson. He attended and graduated from LeRoy High School in 1949 and was united in marriage to Betty Johnson on Feb. 2, 1951. Together they farmed in LeRoy Township until their retirement.

Howie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cruising the local countryside, watching football games and playing 500.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Peterson, the Ostrander Care Center; five children: Lynn and wife Chris Peterson, Kasson and their daughter Amber Peterson, Lila and husband Rodney Pierce, Rochester and their sons Ryan and Justin, Brad Peterson, LeRoy, Kelly Peterson, Sydney, Australia and Scott and wife Jennifer Peterson, LeRoy and their children Serena and Ty Peterson.

Howie was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lorraine and Marcella; and a brother Donald.

Funeral services for Howard will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy with the Rev. Rolf Wangberg of the LeRoy Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and hour prior to the service also at the funeral home.
