Ronald H. Smith, 65, of Big Lake went to be with his Lord, peacefully, Friday Oct. 14, surrounded by his family at home.

Ron was born in Austin, June 16, 1946, the son of Howard and Nettie Smith, and was raised in Lansing. On Oct. 17, 1964, he married Mildred Kaye Andersen. They were together 17 years and had three children. During that time Ron worked for Tempo, Hormel Foods and Combined Insurance. On Feb. 11, 1989, Ron Married Pam Ihrke. He and Pam resided in Plainview, Rochester, and for the past 12 years, Big Lake. Ron worked for Sunrise Assisted Living, and Hoglund Bus Company. Ron was an avid sportsman and looked forward each year to hunting deer with his crew of family and friends. He relished every opportunity to go fishing and especially enjoyed his weekends with Pam at “the shack.” Ron also enjoyed playing cards, golf and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Pam, of Big Lake; son, Raymie (Sarah) of Austin; son, Tim (Val) of West Concord; daughter, Kayla (Bill) of Hutchinson; one brother, Randy (Kim) of Blooming Prairie; three sisters: Phyllis of Eagle, Idaho; Dee of Dallas; and Shirley of Bettendorf, Iowa. Ron had seven grandchildren, Nick, Tannis, Treyvis, Grace, Ada, Carter and Ella.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sharon.

A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Svea Hill Community Covenant Church in Big Lake; 16392 235th Ave, Big Lake, MN 55309. The Funeral Service is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at the same location with visitation starting at 10 a.m.
