The annual Mower County Senior Center’s Health and Wellness Fair is coming up once again.

The sixth annual Health and Wellness Fair, put on by the Senior Service Advisory Council, takes place Saturday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. More than 30 vendors will be there, from Mower County Human Services to free screenings for diabetes, blood pressure, pneumonia and flu shots.

“There’s lots of different resources that are here for people,” said Ann Hanson, advisory council chairwoman.

The fair has grown from its initial offerings and remains consistent in helping seniors plan for nursing homes, assisted living, funeral preparations and other health care needs. In addition, there’s plenty of information for adult children who are looking after their parents’ health.

“A lot of different questions can get answered at the health fair,” Hanson said.

By gathering so many resources together, Hanson said the fair has become a one-stop shop for many seniors’ questions. Hundreds of people attend the fair this year, though Hanson hopes more people from outer Mower County come to the senior center this year.

The event is free. Door prizes will be given.
