Toquam leads BP past Medford

The Blooming Prairie football team survived its first game without starting senior quarterback Luc Zellmer with a 46-16 win at Medford Friday.

Senior Isaiah Toquam ran for a score and threw for two more scores in the first half as he led BP (4-1 overall) to a 36-0 lead at the break. Toquam threw for 200 yards in the win.

β€œI was very impressed,” BP head coach Chad Gimbel said of Toquam. β€œHe threw the ball well and he looked good with a short time to get ready.”

Toquam will get the start next week as well and possibly much longer as Zellmer, who is nine touchdown passes away from tying the Minnesota career touchdown pass record, is out indefinitely with a hand injury. It is questionable if Zellmer will return this season.

BP receiver Gabe Kartes bounced back from an injury scare last week as he hauled in seven passes for 114 yards and one score.
